Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety is an emotion that is experienced as a feeling of tension and unease. Worry thoughts also accompany anxiety. People often say that they are "born worriers" ... there is no such thing as a "born worrier", worry is excessive anxiety. It can manifest physically as sweating, heart palpitations, trembling, and dizziness. Anxiety is about anticipating future events. People that suffer from anxiety will find themselves asking "what if" questions in a way to try and predict an outcome. People can have panic attacks when they are triggered by a specific incident or event but usually, when this happens there are high levels of anxiety prior to the panic attack.
No one has ever died from a panic attack and often there are useful and effective ways of managing this extreme anxiety. People with anxiety disorders can experience tingling or prickly sensations in their limbs and extremities accompanied by recurring intensive thoughts.
Living with anxiety can be completely debilitating and sometimes it can stop people from doing things they enjoy or might enjoy because they feel so anxious. I think this is very sad to be in a place where anxiety stops you from living your life. There is help for managing anxiety effectively. I teach people effective tools and techniques to help manage their anxiety. I use a combination of Somatic and CBT exercises to help with anxiety and clients do report them as being very effective.
